February 2012 Tennis Tidbit

*Congratulations to Alex Deans for winning the Quick Start "Around the World" contest on Wednesday, February 1st at general practice.

*Congratulations to Anna Scott Radford for winning the Quick Start "Around the World" contest on Monday, January 30th at general practice.

*Congratulations to sophomore Alex Gilbert for being selected to attend the Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership Conference this spring!

*The GCTA would like to welcome our newest tennis players, Tina Langley and Shannon Rodgers.

*Senior Alex Deans has advanced to the semifinals of the prestigious Coca-Cola Scholarship competition.

*The deadline for the Polar Bear Shootout L4 USTA Junior Tennis Tournament is Tuesday, January 31st at 9:00 p.m.

*Congratulations to junior Kayla Radford for winning her first USTA tournament match on Saturday, February 4th at the Polar Bear Shootout.

*The Greene County Tennis Association will be hosting its first Level 3 Tournament in February.  The NCTA has designated the annual Greene County Doubles Only Tournament, scheduled for February 11-12, as an L3 event.   The tournament will have limited 16 draws and feed-in consolation.   The deadline for entry is Tuesday, February 7th at 9:00 p.m.


*Congratulations to seventh-grader Brycen Radford for winning her first USTA Tournament match on Saturday, February 4th at the Polar Bear Shootout.

*Dustin Grant, a starter on Greene Central's 2004 state finalist men's team, was at Greene Central visiting on Friday, February 3rd!   Grant will be graduating from Pharmacy School at Wingate University in May.   He will be entering a residency pharmacy program for the next two years.

*Emma Patty, weighing seven pounds and six ounces, was born on Sunday, February 19th.    She is the daughter of Jason and Holly Mace Patty.   Holly was a starter on Greene Central's 2002, 2003, and 2004 state finalist squads.

*Congratulations to junior Kayla Radford for winning the Quick Start "Around the World" contest at general practice on Monday, February 6th!

*Congratulations to Christian Langley and Morgan Britt for winning the Quick Start "Around the World" contests at general pratice on Thursday, March 8th!

*The GCTA would like to welcome Alli West, our newest tennis player!

*Former GCTA vice-president Martha Clark is the new principal at Valle Crucis Elementary School in Boone.
